December Newsletter
Gabby Addington

Kia ora,

This is our last newsletter of 2022 and what a year it has been! We have been busy focusing on refining our operations and processes while looking at ways to grow our portfolio and provide maximum value to the innovation ecosystem.

We have moved our investments onto an online platform with Catalist and have had nearly 30 amazing companies pitch for investment. This has all happened on the back of difficult post-covid conditions including virtual investor evenings, an ever-changing investment environment and an uncertain financial outlook.

We have made it through to December intact and we are excited to announce we have some significant changes to our board:

  • Ben Reid, a founding board member who has held several roles including Chair over the last 7 years has resigned. We thank Ben for his significant contribution.
  • Joelle Grace who has done some great work helping us with our legal compliance has resigned but will continue to be involved with CA activities.
  • I’m delighted to say we have 3 new members joining the board – Marian Johnson, David Oliver and Craig Jakich – all are regular investors and bring a wealth of experience helping businesses and start-ups grow and succeed.
  • The other change is I’m standing down after 4 years as Board Chair. I’ve enjoyed my time in the role and am excited to welcome Richard Morgan as our new Board Chair. Richard has considerable management and governance experience and is a regular Angel investor.

Ngā mihi

November Investor Evening

Our final investor evening of the year has come and gone, and we certainly closed out 2022 in style with yet another great line up from a range of sectors. It was great to see three local companies pitching and a big thanks to Sam for making the trip from Tauranga.

Now is the time for action, and as usual we urge you to ask questions, provide feedback and let us know if your keen to find out more about any of the four companies below.

We want to provide valuable feedback to help founders grow, even if investment does not eventuate so, please get in touch with any thoughts or comments you have.
